This is completely based off “Heroes of Adventure” by The Nameless Designer. I cannot remember where I came across it first. I want to say it was Reddit. I can certainly say I am now on the Heroes of Adventure subreddit.

I cannot take credit for the rules. I will say they are genius in their simplicity, and I embraced them immediately. They reminded me of when I played D&D for the first time in the 80s (Felspar Dak, Level 5 Ranger, Lord of Gnarly Forest). It feels so free.

It immediately inspired me to create Ervauses – a world that I hope is designed for champions. Now, any mistakes throughout here are my fault and some of them are on purpose.

Where I’ve made tweaks to the rules, these are tested with solo gameplay not with a group and it’s not very exhaustive. But try to keep references to Theophany intact (Like changing Piety points to PHP – Theophany points. The reason why I didn’t choose TPP is because I try to avoid acronyms where T and Pare together for what I hope are obvious reasons). Theophany is kind of the principle the whole world relies on.

Where I’ve created a pantheon or started to tell a story or provide background, you’re going to see contradictions. This bit is on purpose. I’m not going to layout the Easter Eggs for you, but some of them will be glaringly obvious. What I hope comes of this is an adventure you can write that resolves those conflicts and come up with stories on your own. Because once I release Ervauses out there[1], that means it’s not mine anymore.

“What other people think of you is none of your fucking business” is a quote I’ve read before. Same kind of thing goes with Ervauses. “What you guys do or think with Ervauses is none of my fucking business”.

I’m giving it to all of you to do what you will. I will always be here to provide updates and give new ideas, but what the players and referees do with them is their business.

Most of all, I want you all to enjoy. Thank you for reading.

[1] As of 1/8/22, Ervauses is about 70% done. There’s more to do but there’s plenty here to be reviewed.

FYI, the itch.io desktop app has a pre-approved list of file extensions that it will install, and absolutely refuses to deal with anything not on the list. .xlsm files are not on the list.

I am so sorry.

I have to admit, while HoA inspired me to create this, I’ve moved on from it.

Once I dove deep into worldbuilding for HoA, I ended up with a worldbuilding project that comes with a barebones RPG system to go along with it.

I do have lots and lots of files for The Theophany. If you could email me direct at robert.rinne@icloud.com I’ll get back to you with the proper file.

Thanks,

RAR

Whoa, this looks very deep and it looks great! I've been itching for something a bit close to Scion, but trying something new and this might be it. Thanks!
